Brothers Campfire Says Walk With Me

Friends,

It is my distinct pleasure to have you at the Campfire today! I made Folgers Black Silk, help yourself!

Bold and Smooth, Like You

This week has been a tough one, but I made it mostly unscathed. It is the Lord’s day and a new week is ahead. I look forward to attending service at the best church in the world today.

A place of rest for the weary

You can attend online to see what it is all about if you wish. Heritage Pentecostal

Let me know if you attended church with me online and it will make my day!

I have a lot of plans for the weekend. I want to try walking from Pueblo, Colorado to Colorado Springs, Colorado in one day for a total of somewhere in the ballpark of 35 miles. I made 22 miles last time and I have learned a lot. What I Learned From The Hike

Last time I took a 35 pounds (15 Kilograms) pack, 25.5 Pounds (11.5 Kilograms) of it was water.

Having walked a majority of this route, there is very little water from stock tanks, streams, or anything else that I could find, so I stand by my former decision to bring a LOT of water with me.

However, due to excellent cell phone service, and a wonderful support team, I will call for a pickup if I have any concerns about hydration.

Thank You All For The Support!

With this confidence, I will bring 2 quarts (1.8 Liters) in the form of a Camelbak and leave electrolyte beverages and water along the trail every 5 miles or so.

Like this, but in plastic bottles with name brands and such.

If you are interested, you can zoom in and see my plan from Google Maps. Proposed Route

You can also see how far I got last time here. All Trails

If I complete this route, I will name it the Berengar/Overton Trail. It does not appear that it has been named before or is used much for foot traffic so I figure why not slap a name on it.

Berengar is the name of a family that was integral to rebuilding Northwich in an ongoing story I finished writing earlier this year. The surname means bear and spear.

The name was given to a family  by the king of La Longi for saving his son from a bearbaiting mishap.

Jacqui Murray, a published author says we need Emerson Berengar, or Brother in our current day and age in the United States.

While I agree, The real life Emerson Berengars have thier hands tied.

That said, It will be the Berengar/ Overton trail if I complete it on foot.

(Well, at least to me😝)

The Berengar/Overton trail calls my name and has deep significance that I will descibe briefly.

14 miles of the trail is dry and thirsty, a land of endless cholla where the population has proven itself to be moderately unfriendly.

Cholla

The sloping grade of the road is hard on the legs and I will be alone with the darkest of thoughts and the bright sun failing to penetrate them.

I have walked these trails before literally and figuratively and have stumbled like the last attempt. Failure leaves a feeling the shame and bitterness of defeat, and accentuates the hot sun cooking my body and draws anguish of inner sorrow painfully eating my insides.

Basically, the route is representative of inner struggle.

Fortunately, there is a light that is brighter than the sun and His name is Jesus. He knows where you are on your journey and will permeate the darkness inside, bringing righteousness, joy and peace that passes understanding. When I stumble and fail, I can dust myself off and reflect on the good book.

Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.
Micah 7:8 KJV

Thank you for reading and have a blessed day!

Very well said. I think you will do better this time and likely make it. The strength of Emerson Berengar is that he is a man of integrity who tries to do the right thing even when another way out would be easier. We need a lot more people like that in the world. Those were the things that made Emerson a hero and in the end he had the only thing a person can truly own, his integrity.

You’re in my feed so I’ll be sure to track your progress!

For comparison, I walked 2720 steps last Monday morn and have been mostly bedridden with knee pain since then. I forgot how messed up my joints are!!

2,720 steps in a day (more like 3 yrs) ain’t much! No active fitbit. Since I’m back to being immobilized by pain I really don’t need one.

7500 is an average person walk. Any steps if you are hurt is amazing. Just do what you can, friend.

Thanks. I’m bummed because I believed my knees/pain were very much under control. As it turns out, it was lack of use. Live and learn!!!
