The Alchemist is a liar and a cheat and a fraud. There are other, far more powerful books than his book of faces. His downfall may come in that he believes his own lies.
That's really funny to me because I read a comic strip called Harley https://www.gocomics.com/harley where the main character is this big, burly biker dude. An on/off theme is that he always locks his doors at night because he is afraid the garden gnomes will come in and do something to him while he sleeps. I've heard, but cannot vouch for the veracity of it, that the night before the Battle of Waterloo, garden gnomes snuck in and switched Napoleon's coffee for decaf.

I tried to raise you guys better than I was, which was good in many ways, and now it's your turn to do a better job raising your kids than I did. And so, even though you're only 16 years into the adventure, I think that you are succeeding and doing a great job with yours.
