Brothers Campfire Neeps No Tatties

Hello Friends!

I am a big fan of potatoes and turnips mixed together in a mash or side by side with a protein. I planted both for a dish called Neeps and Tatties.

If you recall earlier in the year around April, I made a big to do about planting potatoes. I did my research and went to work. I also planted turnips in March prior to the tatties. You can see the results of the neeps,

Neeps,

But there are no tatties to show.

No Tatties

Disappointed I was. If I were an Irishman back in the day, I would have taken my family on a boat to the United States and taken my chances over starving.

Wait. I think that is how part of my family got here. I should have known better.

Scratch that. I will try again. All neeps and no tatties is ok. The rest of the garden went well. For instance, I had good results with my tomatoes.

We play Realcraft in our backyard

Due to hearing about the potential deadliness of the plant, we kept a guard on duty. (Source for my concern here)

Petra, the Erratic Engineeress host of the Erratic Hat Podcast and story character wanted to know how my wheat was coming along. Here you go, friend!

Beautiful Green!

Oh, and I got a few raspberries as well. I will be planting many more!

This is probably the end of the garden season for me. I did make sauerkraut with my cabbage.

Not for everyone. If you want a recipe, ask.

Now this sauerkraut is not for the timid. It is the real deal, probiotics and all. The smell alone caused darkness in the sky when I made it.

The Sky had a greenish tinge. I blamed it on the fires in an earlier post. My bad.

Well, anyways, I am on my Body By Bologna Workout Program. Here is my weigh in. I am pacing my exercise to make this consistent and sustainable.

Start was 197.8

Here is today’s workout.

25 Squats

25 Lunges

25 Pushups

And my run. Well, almost jog.

I am wearing Altra Lone Peak Shoes if anyone is interested.

Well, that is all for today friends! Have a blessed, beautiful day!

Well, this started out so well, but then I remembered Herman Farbage. You know he was just taking out his garbage when the killer tomatoes attacked him.

I had all the safety measures in play thay I could. They are potentially the scariest crop I have.

Between you and dad I’m not sure whether to be appalled at the wordage puns and ridiculousness or just cry and pray for ear plugs 😂. I love y’all. It was definitely beautiful today…..

Alternatively, you can land in Toronto. I just published today a picture of Irish people landing in Toronto after the Great Famine.

Loved your post and your guard on duty, lol. The beets look so good and as for the tatties…well better luck next year.
The cabbage situation … now that is potent!!
Congrats on the weight loss and keep having fun and sharing with us.

Thanks for stopping by, Fifted Fifty! Sauerkraut is not for everyone. The weight loss is a hard one for me. Prior to Covid I was powerlifting and eating a lot. When all that shut down, I kept gaining without the lifting. I appreciate your encouragement!

You just need some (veggie) haggis with those neeps and tatties and you’ve got yourself a hearty (and healthy) meal!!! 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🖤

Haha thanks! The whole podcast thing has been pushed a bit further ahead to the future, because I’m dealing with some health stuff.
