Brothers Campfire The Puking Peasant (In Loving Memory of Gertrude)-An Ongoing Tale Chapter 191

Hello Friends!

Recently, I was Nominated for over 20 awards in a weeks time. I would have been embarrassed to accept them all and write all of those posts. Thank you by the way!

Many of the awards given are chain letters to drive traffic, but I believe they have their place. I was elated when I received my first Sunshine Blogger Award!

Today, I am going to present a Music Award thay can be earned. Perhaps one day it will become a badge that can be worn.

This is my first go at this type of award and learned a lot from the process. I reached out to If Baird and he helped me get the ball rolling. If Baird will be my first to receive the highly coveted honor of saying,

Today, If Baird can proudly post this image anywhere he so chooses for creating music and singing at the Puking Peasant.

I will be challenging people to sing a song that will be played at the Puke with it’s own backstory. That puts responsibility on me as well!

Now, the Story. (All Music belongs to If Baird)

An older patron of the Puking Peasant Passed at the ripe old age of eleventy two. Actually, no one knew how old she was. A pint of Screaming Peaches has that sort of effect on a person.

Gertrude had been a regular to the Puke for quite some time. Her favorite pastime was playing cards with the boys when they allowed for it. Other times she played checkers or darts.

Gertrude was shrewd and sometimes lewd. Sometimes, she sported a tude. One thing was certain, she loved loud music and could drink with the best of them, that is, until she died from drinking.

Many funerals in the dock quarter were concluded by a burial at sea. She was no exception.

Galvin the Bard was wistful about the whole thing. While he was an entertainer at these venues, he did not drink and saw the devastation it caused to lives.

There was a dark and somber mood at the Puke and it lingered. It was time to say goodbye to their dear friend.

 “Fellow Pukes!” He declared.

All were attentive.

“Gertrude was a dear friend. I spoke with her relatives and she would have wanted us to be in good spirits. In fact, she had a favorite band, and I brought them here to sing a tune in her honor. It is a song she composed herself called, Hey Gertrude! “

The band warmed up and played. Tears welled in the eyes of the patrons. They were touched. Not a dry eye could be seen.

Galvin thanked the band and they went their way. The End

If you want this prestigious distinction,

I am greatly honored. Shout-out to my band: the great Wasse Asmlash on bongos, harmonica and banjo, and the incredible Jack Rubnitz on guitar.
