Brothers Campfire Caloric Carbs, Counting Cookies and Inhibiting Intake

Hello,

Benjamin from Brother’s Campfire here!

Ready To Take On A Challenge!

I have been struggling a little with weight gain, and on December 14th, 2020 I weighed in at 201 Pounds/ 91 Kilos and began counting calories with the non-paid version of the Lose It app.

It was time for a change.

Today I weighed in at 191.4 Pounds/86 Kilos, just shy of 10 Pounds/4.5 Kilos.

I chose to start before Christmas and New Year to demonstrate discipline and saved my calories to eat well on both occasions.

I did not, however, wish to forgo Thanksgiving and ate to my heart’s content.

Calorie counting has worked for me so far. At my current weight, I am allotted a little over 2000 calories.

This means I can eat 7 Snickers Bars and a Coca-Cola and still meet my daily requirement if I so desire.

Or 8 Snickers if I wash it down with coffee.

What holds me back from such irresponsible behavior is mostly cash. I can’t afford to eat that way as it is too hard on the pocketbook.

Another factor is I like going to bed feeling at least a little full and going to bed hungry is no kind of enjoyable.

A day filled with yummy delectables would leave me short to consume a bowl of rice or a potato at the end of the day.

The hardest part for me is utilizing fat as energy and this is where the Keto diet failed me. If you have read about me walking 35 miles in a day, you would see that when my body ran out of carbohydrates, my performance significantly diminished.

A Shell of a Man I Am

On this diet, carbohydrates are still something I can eat, but in limited amounts. I just have to keep the calories in line.

In this somewhat mild winter here in Colorful Colorado, it is freezing to me when burning fat. As I type this on my favorite chair, it is 65F/18C and I cannot stay warm without a sweater and socks. Last night, I needed two blankets at this temperature.

Over time, I am hoping my body can adapt a little better to utilizing fat as an energy source or perhaps spring will come and I can be warm again.

Well, that is all for now.

If there is anyone out there that is interested in calorie counting, I am more than happy to take you along for the journey.

I also have a Fitbit if you want to count steps with me.

I am looking to only eat beans and rice for a week to see if it helps me out.
