Brothers Campfire The Kings Guard-An Ongoing Tale Chapter 87

The Captain of the King’s Guard was realistic and spoke directly to his soldier.

“Do you know who you struck with your gauntlet?”

” no, and I don’t care.”

“That was James the Bastard, formerly son of Lord Rainport. He nearly cleft a man in two the other day. Knocked the head clean off another.”

It is wise to know who is who. He may very well remove your face true to his word.”

“I’m not from La Longi and I could care less who is who.”

The Captain stared hard at the soldier. Something was not right.

“You are out of your mind, soldier. You swore loyalty to the king to become a guard.Your oath requires you to protect the inhabitants of La Longi with your life. You did not exemplify this when you mistreated the lady you escorted from the palace.”

The soldier’s voice changed.

” you do not know who I am, foolish man.”

Concerned that his soldier was overheated or sick, he stated,

“Take off your helmet soldier.”

Underneath the helmet was a fearsome beast of the likes he had never seen before. It snarled.

The Captain of the Kings Guard did not attain his position by standing around a market stall eating fried fritters. He had seen the world. This was new. He evaluated the situation.

The creature, obviously powerful and fitted with the armor of the King’s elite spoke. ” my master says you die!

Years of war taught the Captain to act. His sword drawn, he slashed at the exposed head and the creature ducked and leaped for his midsection. The captain pushed hard on his shoulders slamming him to the ground and disengaged. The creature was fast. Recovering, he placed his hand on his sword but was not fast enough. The Captain struck him in the head with the butt of his blade knocking him down again.

Without hesitation, he thrust his sword in the neck of the creature. The fight was quick and brutal.

He looked with disgust upon the creature. He had never seen the likes of it before. The thought bothered him. What bothered him more was that somewhere his soldier was dead and this imposter had likely killed him.

I do hope that you find my writing to be moral and upright. There are a lot of places I do not wish to go as I write.

I check mine regularly too, for the same reason.
I really hope that I didn’t offend you by my lack of sentence articulation skills earlier. It came out wrong, I didn’t mean to.
I have at this since morning and this has gotten me a little over the edge.

I checked my spam and there was one comment from you there. I saved it from it’s peril!
You are gentle in spirit. It would be difficult to be offended by you!

You are so kind! I still apologise for all this miscommunication and misunderstanding. Last thing I want to do is to loose a valuable friend over this akismet problem! 🙂
