Ottawa Truckers Support Freedom

Hello, Benjamin from Brother’s Campfire here. If you do not want to be triggered by my stance on overreaching governments, please wait until the next post for something more sweet like Valentine’s day.

I didn’t stutter on May 10th, 2020 when I saw the writing on the wall. We were told one month of masks would stop this monster called Covid.

Two years in, the monster is now our governments.

For those that I trigger, I am vaccinated and have complied with the rules in my community.

It is time to go back to normal. It is shocking when the leader of our laid back Northern neighbors take the stand that us lively Yankees should have.

I do not believe I will be on the wrong side of history supporting the truckers in Ottawa. I have listened to numerous interviews and live streams on the topic and I believe they are standing up for a good cause, the cause of freedom.

They are doing and did a great job representing freedom and standing up against tyranny!

This guy is a mess, and needs to listen and respond to the “common people.”

Warning! Contains Inappropriate Language!

With that off my chest, I will not delete or argue with comments I disagree with.

Our pretty Prime Minister’s main failure (one of many) was not having a safe or any path back to normal in hand. I, like the truckers, want him gone, but their continued actions have now backed him into a corner he can not get out of. If he had had the cojones to meet with and listen to them when they first arrived, this would not have gone to anarchy levels. Many tactics used by many Governments were designed to encourage vaccination and that is fine. But, you will never persuade all of the population to get vaccinated. What should be encouraged is respect and understanding on all sides. I do not care if people get vaccinated, but I still want to do what I think will keep me and others safe. Unvaccinated people should not be harassed, but neither should they harass the vaccinated. All governments are screwing up the return to normal, by moving too slow or too fast. There is no one right path back to normal. We will all get Covid, vaxxed or unvaxxed, but that does not mean we should not still be careful in the interim and make sure we do not overwhelm our healthcare systems. We all need to act better and stop our bullying to get what WE want. Our point of view is not the only one.

I won’t even follow the rules, though that becomes a little hazy, as I don’t know what they are any longer. I tuned them out. There is a point at which quiet resistance is beneficial. Noisy resistance is also necessary at times.

I feel bad for our neighbors up North. I mean they have been in an unending psychologically damaging lockdown. I asked a fellow blogger who lives in Toronto if this measure has curbed contact or death and the numbers haven’t changed for the better. Proving Trudeau is an idiot like every world leader.

I do believe political leaders probably mean well, especially leaders that aren’t dictators but they are just not bright enough to figure out the best measures possible. Because it seems lockdown, masking and vaccines haven’t completely wiped out this pandemic. Although I will weigh in and say that I feel more inclined to not catch germs for any winter illness from wearing mask but at the same time I’m tired of Healthcare ruling out every other illness and if you are sick it is ONLY covid, total bullshit.

If everyone had just worn masks, social distanced, and gotten vaccinated right away, the pandemic would have been over long ago. It’s those people who want “freedom” who have made this thing go on for years, and we all have to pay for it with lost lives, lost jobs, and profound disruptions. I hope those truckers aren’t blocking ambulances and firefighters, but it wouldn’t surprise me, since it’s all about them.

The truckers have been driving by hospitals and also harassing nurses and doctors. If they only attacked Covid with the same zeal. I live in Alberta and while we have had restrictions, we have not ever had a hard lockdown. We were given a choice and we made it and accepted the consequences. That is also what the truckers did, but the do not like the consequence. When I see donations pouring in from American political groups, I realize that whatever noble reasons the truckers once had, they have now been subverted for political reasons. Touché. Common sense is no longer common. Cheers

No, they have NOT being causing problems at hospitals and harassing nurses and doctors. Many of the protesters *are* nurses and doctors. Nor are they being funded by “American political groups”.

You need to stop listening to government and media propaganda, and look at what’s happening on the ground. What you’re repeating here is pure legacy media lies.

The US (my country) has gone insane. Almost one million people are dead and half of the country can’t be bothered to wear a mask – those deaths are just collateral damage.

    2. Re-Farmer says:

All evidence shows the masking, distancing and vaccinations have made no positive difference at all. In reality – as we were warned about, back in 2020 – the restrictions extended the pandemic and caused far more damage. Government responses killed more than the bug ever could, including through interfering with faulty treatment protocols.

Every level of Canadian government (and, I’m sure, in the US as well) has emergency plans that are reviewed and renewed very few years. Most recently, in 2018, at the federal level. Those plans include pandemic responses. None of them included things like lockdowns and masking, because the experts that help make these plans recognised that 1) they wouldn’t work and 2) they would cause much social and economic harm. Those plans all got ignored, much to all our detriment. Ignoring those plans didn’t save lives. It destroyed them.

Also, the pandemic actually ended in late 2020. What we went through in 2021 was completely due to government interference and restrictions. More people are going to get sick and die for years, if not decades, to come, because of the restrictions. Many more are already being harmed and dying from the injections they are being forced to take.

The government never had the authority to implement the restrictions in the first place. They can recommend. They cannot enforce.

The main problem has been communication during the Pandemic crisis, information was so murky. As, We made choices for our family, I read medical journals as my husband and I made decisions. We got boosters before many did because I knew it would be necessary. I am not someone who tolerates governmental overreach by any means. This country is so more divided than any other generation. My husband and I have almost a 20 year age difference and we discuss all the time, how America got here.

I’m with you, Ben. I support the truckers because leaders like Trudeau, Biden, and Macron are drunk on their own power and I don’t believe they ever intended to lift the lockdowns. We see big shots like Nancy Pelosi, Barry, and Gavin Newsom at lavish parties maskless while the servants there are masked. That tells me all I need to know. I’ve dealt with bullies all my life and o e thing I know is this-They will never give up their power over. WE have to take our personal power back! It’s up to US to take back our freedoms.

I understand Cherie, but exchanging one set of “perceived” bullies, because we do not like their healthcare restrictions for a set of actual bullies, who are harassing citizens, businesses, legitimate vaccinated truckers, healthcare workers, shop keepers, soup kitchen workers, desecrating war and national hero memorials, while saying they are like those who fought & died for our freedom is not the answer. 2 wrongs do not make a right. Anarchy is not the answer. Covid is the enemy not the people, who believe or do not believe. Yes, Justin Trudeau is a pussy, but put yourself in any leader’s shoes and ask yourself, how would I handle it, without crashing the healthcare system and having someone you love die, get sick or become a long hauler? I have lost 2 relatives, have 2 friends with severe long haul symptoms (no prior conditions) and my son who works in a hospital risk his health daily, now has Covid as does his wife. He is harassed while he fights to save the lives of those who do not believe and drink bleach or eat Ivermectin sandwiches. Rights come with responsibilities. Choices come with consequences. 47% of Canadians side with truckers frustrations, but only 26% side with their antics. You have made your point, GO Home, all restrictions were about to be lifted anyway. Stop being the bully. Covid does not care if you believe and I do not care if you get vaccinated. Just understand another point of view and be kind. Benjamin, you must be having fun watching all this show. Allan

But it’s not anarchy. It’s a peace protest. They aren’t burning down businesses and beating up people like BLM and Antifa. The MSM and establishment are demonizing these people. Just like they did Martin Luther King. Do you wonder why Facebook and bullying Big Tech are considering a lot of the truckers videos? It’s because they don’t want the truth to get out- that they’re not committing violence. I know how bullies operate and, BTW, I’m not a bully. I don’t bully vaccinated people or unvaccinated people. I believe you have a right to choose what to put in your own body. To each his own. All everyone wants is the freedom to choose, that’s it. I’ve said my piece and I’m honest about it. I may get bullied about it and I may get accused of being a bully, but I’m saying what’s on my mind and in my heart. Have a great day.

They did in fact try to burn one apartment down and they talked about ramming their trucks through walls. I never said you were a bully Cherie. I know differently, but what is happening now in the protest, by people who have piggybacked in with a formerly legitimate protest has changed that protest to bullying. I am all for you having the right to chose to get vaccinated or not, but those who choose otherwise should also be respected and not taunted and bullied. Truth is a relative thing. As I was always told in pre-internet days,do not believe anything you hear and only half of what you see. This is especially true now with the internet. Freedoms come at a price. None of us is really free. We need licenses to drive, passports to travel and vaccinations to travel to some countries. We must wear our seatbelts, we must wear helmets, we need to stop at red lights and stop signs. We can choose not to follow those rules, too, but there are consequences to every choice. And, I question why there are no trucker protests on the American side of the border. The U.S. put in the same rules a week later. Stay well and let us hope for a sensible, peaceful solution to this mess we all find ourselves in. Allan

No, they did not try to burn down an apartment, nor ram trucks through walls. Those were not protesters, though the guys that tried to start a fire claimed they were truckers. Which is laughable, when you see photos of them. They looked like they haven’t had a hard day’s work their entire lives.

And obeying traffic laws is not equivalent to forcing people to take medical treatments against their will. Or destroying their jobs, businesses and lives with unnecessary and illegal restrictions. That is a false dichotomy.

The truckers and their supporters have been peaceful this entire time. Crime rates in Ottawa are down 90%. They’re doing a better job of taking care of the city than the mayor or the police ever have.

          2. cheriewhite says:

You’re absolutely right, people who have opposite opinions do deserve the same respect. 💯🎯👍And there will always be a few bad apples in every protest. Also, sometimes those on the opposite side will infiltrate peaceful protests and commit violence just to make the peaceful protesters look bad. It’s happened before. Many times MSM pays these infiltraters. MSM is not our friend. Wishing you to stay well too. I too hope a peaceful solution can be reached. 💖💐

        1. kagould17 says:

Thank you Cherie. We all deserve respect and to be listened to. We also need to do our own research from reliable sources. Contrary to the originators of this theory, MSM is not the enemy of the people. Ignorance is. Informed decisions, polite discourse and not trampling anyone’s rights for frivolous reasons is the desired goal. Stay well Cherie. Allan

I hate to break it to you, but none of that is true. They are not harassing citizens. If anything, it’s the other way around. They are not harassing businesses. The businesses that are open are seeing more customers than they’ve had in 2 years. Most of the truckers are vaccinated, as are most of the protesters, so they’re certainly not harassing anyone for being vaccinated. No, they are not harassing healthcare workers, etc. They have so much food, they are feeding everyone who wants any, including the homeless. No one desecrated any war memorials. Again, quite the opposite.

The protests are peaceful and legal. They are filled with love, excitement and hope. There have been several attempts by instigators to lure them into doing something stupid, and every time, those attempts have been thwarted.

You really need to stop listening to the media and government lies. Plenty of people, on site, are making videos and live streaming what’s going on, which has been described as Canada Day, every day.

I agree with a previous comment that urinating on the veterans memorial is unacceptable. I want an end to Covid and lockdowns but the protesters seem to have little respect for ordinary citizens in Ottawa or American workers in GM and Toyota plants who have had to shut down due to the Ambassador bridge blockade. Just sayin’

    1. Re-Farmer says:

      That didn’t happen.

The closest anyone has been able to figure out, is that someone urinated on a bottom step. Which is about 50 yards away from the memorial.

Also, the bridge blockade is not continuous. Things were still getting through, with a delay of about 6-8 hours. People were being slowed down more at the police blockades, than the truck and tractor blockades.

Those plants shutting down were having problems getting parts well before the protests started, directly because of the federal government restrictions that were messing with the supply chain. They’re just blaming the truckers for a pre-existing problem.

Hearing about your family and the way your take care of your wife is a great blessing. However I find the toxic environment in this post, especially among your readers too much for me. I have unhooked and unfollowed. What D. Wallace Peach wrote is exactly correct. The far right misinformation, the rejection of masks, and rejection of vaccines made all of this much worse and has prolonged the agony of it. It makes me sick and I need a break. I need a break from the pandemic and I need a break from the crazy toxic environment of the far right.
