Brothers Campfire Daffodil, Mason, Knives, and Pond Placing

Hello, Benjamin from Brother’s Campfire here!

Yesterday day started a little later than normal for me, but I am pleased to say the Twelve Year Veteran of life made a pot of coffee! It was a great way to get started!

Things are getting green here at Willow Manor and the daffodils are starting to bloom. My Beloved and I are excited to get in gardening mode!

Aren’t they pretty? We planted them last Fall and here they are!

This year is the year of perennials and gardening. We are looking to plant things we will enjoy for years to come. Our garden shopping run was a bit pricey, but a good risk in my opinion.

We also got some nifty lawn art. This guy caught my Beloved’s eye.

What also caught her eye was me trying to design our duck pond. I am not great at making pretty things so I take her advice. Apparently straight lines are not very decorative. How was I to know?

I worked hard on the pond and planted a lot of summer bulbs. It is a work in progress.

The Twelve Year Veteran assisted in gathering the stones and hung a mason bee home. Thanks, Twelve Year Vet!

Mason bees like to nest 6 to 10 feet up, South to Southwest facing. The nests need to be sanitized every year to keep mites and mold to a minimum. Also, if you purchase one, get one that is 6 inches deep as the egg configuration works better for a mix of girls and boys.

This time of year is busy! I planted grapes, asparagus, turnips, beets, kale, arugula, peas, spinach, carrots, radishes, and lettuce. It is still too cold to plant anything else here in Colorful Colorado Springs.

I was running out of daylight, so I took a few pictures and went to work inside.

I am getting better at useful knife bevels and spent a couple of hours working on them. I also made an aluminum knife guard. If you look at the knife below, you can see the edge needs a lot of work and the transition from handle to blade is a little wonky. It was not my best, but excellent practice.

That was yesterday. Today, we celebrate Resurrection Sunday! If I get the chance, I will tell you all about it!

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Matthew 28:6 KJV
