A (very) Late Introduction Brothers Campfire

Hello!

I have been posting for several months and an introduction is long overdue.

My name is Benjamin. (Smiles and waves)

Literally

I am a correctional professional. I supervise an institutional kitchen and am certified to teach staff first aid, self defense, and cell extractions.

My education is mostly from the school of hard knocks and reading.

The hard knocks are for another post. I have read the Bible and an ancient version of World Book Encyclopedia A-Z multiple times throughout my life.

My Bible
My Encyclopedias

I completed my GED as an adult. This used to embarrass me until I discovered that recounting this experience motivates my incarcerated charges to pursue an education for themselves.
I tell them that to learn algebra, I checked out a book from the library and began at page 1.

When I began my employment as an officer, I did not know how to type. Since, I have written hundreds of reports so I have improved a little.

Writing standardized reports and enforcing
Administrative Regulations,Standard Operating Procedures and Posted Operational Rules
Makes one boring.

” Oh Brother,” one might say.

I needed an outlet and began to type. First, it was on a GPS game.

Creativity welled inside, bursting at the seams to get out and represent itself in a productive manner. I began successfully writing poems for ingame cash. I would post,

” To all ranks and stations, a poem for your donations!”
Galvin, The Bard was born.

The Bard

Some game players wanted raw emotion and scary stories. Jeptha The Beast made his debut.

The Beast

The Bard and the Beast were my bread and butter for ingame cash. However, I had my limits as to what I would write for ingame coin.

As keystrokes hit the digital page, a rule following no nonsense curmudgeon came to life.
Emerson, the Brother.

The Brother

Me, I am Benjamin, telling stories and working on my typing. I am proud to say I am 40,000 word in!

I would like to say thank you to those that have encouraged me to write. It has been invigorating. I would also like to thank the artist who provided drawings for portions of my blog. You are remarkable, and at your request, anonymous. Thank you for believing in me!

As I find my writing style, I hope you enjoy my ongoing story about the Land of La Longi and the Village of Northwich!

Lovely to meet you, Benjamin!! Wow, you have done remarkably well, congratulations on all of your accomplishments!! There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of for getting your GED and continuing your education as an adult. If anything, I think it’s more courageous to do so! I’m happy you are writing and I look forward to reading more from you!! <3

This was so so so very cool to read. Just loved it. Wonderful!! Especially the GED story and how you inspire inmates with it. I get kind of emotional about that because I love hearing about people who make inmates lives better and easier and help them get out of the situation they are in. Thanks for sharing this. Also loved hearing about how you wrote in-game poems for donations! Very inspiring. Will tell my gaming boys about this idea. :))
