Hello, Benajmin from Brother’s Campfire here!
Yesterday, the 12 year veteran of life challenged me to perform 100 squats in succession. The importance of leg day has been instilled in him by some guy he knows that walked 35 miles in a day.
He led the way, finishing a minute faster. That kid has some crazy role models.
I normally exercise in sets so it took some time to recover. I bet my friend Amey Kale could have easily completed this challenge, but all I wanted was to was vomit. The squats were low and slow, to the bucket. (That means all the way down)
Having an additional day off, I wanted to be productive so I cleaned the garage. It took me all day, but It feels like I can work in there now.
There is nothing fancy about it and my tools are well used hand me downs, but the comfort level over it is high.
The other day, in accordance with my goals for the year, I took a blacksmith class to learn a new skill and I want to try my hand at it. I was told I needed a 400 to 700 dollar anvil to begin my journey. Frankly, I believe that is marketing garbage to get me to rent a booth somewhere.
I got started anyway. Years ago, I purchased a railroad rail from the Pikes Peak Cog Railway with the intent of making an anvil out of it. Life happened and it lay amongst the stuff.
It is a little light and a little round on top, but I mounted it to a pine log with some lag bolts anyway.
“Make it work” has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember, and I am going to give it a go.
I fired up a propane torch for proof of concept and torched a large nail. With two firings I turned the tip into a rectangle. The striking surface was fair and it worked, so I will have to learn how to build a campfire now.
.
I did not wear a suit when I tried this out. Rather, I am ready for church attendance at https://www.csfpc.com/ .
If you want a Bible study, let me know. It beats a hangover and a broken heart any day.
In other new, today is the 70th day of calorie counting and I have lost 23 pounds so far.
As Sunday is my cheat day, I began with an epic breakfast. It was a tasty 450 calorie French toast bake.
Well, that’s all for now. I am really excited.
What a great post title!!! 😉 Good luck with the anvil! Over here, even small old ones are expensive as they have become fashionable decorator’s pieces! 🙁
Scarcity is part of what holds me back from getting an anvil. I am willing to drive to another state to get a used one. I can order a new one but that is a lot more than 700 US dollars
Thanks for the tips and the compliments.
Yikes, that is steep! Here, you can get them for between 200 and 800 depending on size. I wonder why they are so dear over there?
And you are most welcome!!! 🙂
I am not sure exactly. I am spreading the word that I want one to just about everyone.
Wishing you the very best of luck! There must be one with your name on it lying idle in some garage somewhere near 😉
I hope so. I do not want a harbor freight Anvil. They are cheaply manufactured.
😉
Well if we start working out everyday, then it’ll just be a number for us later. Benjamin, my friend, you reminded of 2001 again, I started to go to gym with Dad, was just 10. Used to do minor work in Garage. I imagined myself in your place.
Amey, that is amazing!
look at you go!
From rags to riches 🤣 glad you didn’t wear your Sunday attire in your workshop.
Enjoy church! 💖
Church was good. It may be fun to dress up and swing a hammer.
Oh awesome! I’ll wait for your next picture!
🙌 yay!
That breakfast looks incredibly delicious, Benjamin! 😻
VVN
It was a special treat!
You look quite devious with that nail, sir.
Jist a little.
Is that really your garage‽‽‽ Amazing stuff.
Yes sir, Thank you!
I would have completed about 1/3 squat, then collapsed due to my knee issues. If I managed a whole squat, I’d need a week (or more) in bed to recover!!
So, good job on the squats, the anvil, the nail, and the weight losd!!
Thank you Bubbles! We all have things we are good at. How are your classes going?
I’m in brain fail. Can’t seem to focus and totally unable to grasp some concepts because I don’t see the pattern nor practical application.
I think I need an art/craft workshop to refresh my brain.
You can swing a hammer over here! We will pull you up a chair!
Thanks!!
I’d like to learned wood carving .. by hand and by lathe.
Ooh! That sounds nifty!
Good for you!!on both things woodworking and squats.. Ouch are you sore? You look very nice in a suit. And that is true a good Bible study any day is better😊
I am a little sore, and thank you !
But I’m sure it’s was worth it. You’re welcome.
I hope so. I want to walk a long distance this year.
Awesome sauce bro. That’s really epic. You’re accomplishing a lot
Thank you!
I must have found what you lost Unfortunately. You’re doing amazing I love the tidy garage, ingenuity and the delicious looking breakfast. I’ll hit Izzy up for the recipe.
Good on you to learn something hew
Laugh a while See what happens
Thank you Mr Ohh!
Hello Benjamin,
I am impressed by your efforts, in the photo you have really changed, you must be so happy !!
I continue my ketogenic diet, I feel great.
I cut out the sugar, and it’s just wonderful.
I don’t even miss sugar, I’m starting to get remarks from people who haven’t seen me for a while, asking me what have I done;)
I still wish you much success in everything you do.
Have a good day
cordially
Corinne
Sounds like you are getting fitter than a fiddle! I am a bread lover myself and it is the complex carbs that call over the simple sugars. For me, I am calorie counting all the way as I perform poorly on a keto. Great job, Corrinne!
It’s true that it’s weird to think that you can lose weight by eating fat … it only works if you remove the sugar;)
I never thought I would get there, and especially that this type of diet would suit me as well. I have found the diet that suits me and guarantees that I will always be in great shape.
In any case, you are transformed, it is very impressive, you seem much younger;) !!!
Fat burn is rough for me without carbs in the mix. It workes well for my wife. I suppose it depends on body type.
Thank you very much for the compliment.
I think you are right, I read that it does not work for everyone.
this is my first time on a ketogenic diet, and I confess that I am very surprised, often I am not hungry, and this is part of the process …
Very impressive, because I can tell you that I am a good French epicurean who loves good food;)
I am down. French Toast, French Fries, French Bread, Boeuf Bourguignon,
Potatoes Dauphinoise,Cassoulet,Croque Monsieur, Croque Madame,Jambon-Beurre, Concombre a la Menthe,Cherry Clafoutis and anything else France wants to feed me.
Unlike you, I get hungry calorie counting.

It’s annoying to be hungry, it makes it more complex, so I can tell you that you have even more merit !!!
My coach told me that as with the Keto diet you stop sugar, you quickly lose sugar addiction.
And I know that you know that the body is never addicted to fat, neither to vegetables, nor to proteins, it is only addicted to sugar …
Suddenly by dint of entering into this diet you gain in energy and your body does not claim since it has enough energy with the fat. This is the reason for “I am often not hungry”, and in particular in the morning (whereas before my large slices of butter brioches were sacred …). So I don’t eat breakfast at all in the morning, I do a fasting.
I eat in the evening, and I eat only at noon. So I do a 16h fast which puts my body to rest and if I move a little I hit my fat mass if I need energy;)
Today I did my 10 km walk, but tomorrow I will see cleints in the wine châteaux, so it will be calm but exciting
Good day Ben and all my congratulations !!!!!!!!
Thank you for the advice, Corrine! I am addicted to bread, totally. In a way those are sugars I suppose. I crave bread more than most things. ….
….
What kind of work are you doing?
We engrave glass and crystal.
So we engrave table glasses, decanters, crystal corks, barrel bungs, bottles for very large châteaux near Bordeaux.
http://www.studiogravure.com
There are some images but the most prestigious castles are not there, we are not allowed to communicate about the work we do for them, their visual communications are locked. But that’s okay, we know that we are working with joy as for the biggest and the smallest châteaux, all of which are very fascinating in terms of history, heritage and terroir. The meetings we have and the castle tours are part of the most exciting part. We contribute to the embellishment of the glassworks and to the communication of all these châteaux and many very prestigious French restaurants.
Et vive le pain !!! Long live bread !!!
