Marathon Training Update

Hello, Benjamin from Brother’s Campfire here!

Last week, I ran a total of 45 miles.

Slowly, I am working my way up to 50 miles per week by incremental load to my plan.

Today’s run of 15.5 miles was consistent and mostly uphill, good marathon training if you ask me.

I would have run longer, but an IT band wasn’t liking it, so I called for a pickup.

Slower, easy miles on long runs save my joints and muscles and allow for lactic acid to be processed as I go.

For long runs, I eat 100 grams of carbs every hour as long as I can stomach it. When it makes me feel sick, I drink more water and eat a little less.  I mean, hey, I am doing something tough, so why not sweeten the pot, right?

In seriousness, consuming sugar slows down the inevitable crash that will happen when your body feels it is out of glycogen in the muscles.

    Gooooo you!!! IMPRESSIVE!! 🏃‍♀️

The longest (and only time) I’ve run not on a treadmill/stairclinber, was a 5k race. I hated every second and swore I’d never run again. I’ve stuck to that!!
