Brothers Campfire Learns How To Present Information

Hello, Benjamin from Brother’s Campfire here!

Today is a big day. I wonder if I can put it in one sentence.

I will be dropping my daughter off at a class, taking my son to school, getting my Beloved ready and getting her in the car, then I will pick my daughter up, drop her off at school, take my wife to an appointment, schedule an appointment for an eye doctor, pick my children up from school, pick up a meal, take my wife to another appointment and then take my family to church.

Oh, yes, and then there is coffee, Piping hot, dark and bitter. Ok, two sentences.

Brother’s Campfire

False advertising is a no no in my book. Looking up at the picture from last year, It will be necessary to take a new picture every month to stay truthful. I have less hair, more grey, additional wrinkles, an expanded waistline and a much larger coffee cup.

Work starts back tomorrow. I wonder if they will recognize me. I haven’t been there since December 2nd, 2021.

I coordinate volunteers at the prison and I used to teach inmates how to cook. I have been working there since 2008. I teach a few classes that include first aid, defensive tactics, edged weapon defense, force cell extractions, and importantly, emotional intelligence, a newer skill in my toolbox.

Likely, I will let the rough and tumble certifications lapse and stick to professional development endeavors. It isn’t worth the wear and tear.

I was thinking about getting into the realm of teaching at the Training Academy. I have been an instructor for a decade. There is a class I have waited over five years to take about developing curriculum, and I can’t seem to get a foot in the door. Somehow, it ends up in my mouth instead.

This class is important, as I need to learn how to present information to a diverse group of people from all walks of life with different learning styles.

Maybe I should find a way to practice this skill while I wait. Hmm.. I am not sure if I can make a presentation or convey information with the written word.

Practice makes better, I suppose.

Well, I am off to adventures somewhat known. Have a beautiful day!

“present information to a diverse group of people from all walks of life with different learning styles” Hmm…I wonder how you could do that?

When I was studying abroad we were a mix of all sorts of nationalities and fields related to materials and engineering, but not all on the same level. Of course it’s not the same thing, but I think you just need to start somewhere to see where the majority is and then help those who struggle to get further. Later on it kind of evens out naturally, unless people don’t want to learn at all, which requires a different approach altogether 🤷‍♀️

What a fascinating background! All those classes sound interesting… what about trying out a video/ online format to test the waters for your new endeavor? I hope your full day goes smoothly!

You know, I am not really interested in gaining the attention of my current job to be an instructor any more.

If i go the route of expanding, it will be for myself or others.

I have written all my life, used to teach writing, and had a career focused on communication. GO FOR IT! You’re doing a fine job of communicating. Wanting to is half the battle!

Busy day for you for sure. I am in the dental office with the kids. One kid needs 4 extractions after his braces go on. Prison work is tough, thank you for doing that career for our society. I spent 2 decades working with violent teens in home. Oh, the stories there! I was getting ready to certify for MANDT training before I left my agency.

No…. Thank you for all YOU do!!!

Dental work is tough. My daughter had her braces removed about a year or so ago. It is a lot of work! 🤠🔥

Great post, Ben! “…I can’t seem to get a foot in the door. Somehow, it ends up in my mouth instead.” I don’t know why but that gave me a good chuckle. Maybe because I’ve been there. 😁 Presenting a class to people from all walks of life is something I don’t know I could do. For me, it would be like trying to speak a hundred different languages when the only ones you know are English and Spanish.

Prayers for Isabel’s complete recovery and your success at your job. And please pray for me and hubby as well. We’ve both been battling bronchitis and it’s kicking our butts. Mike still manages to go to work so I’m the official wimp of the house. 😁😜

Thanks for resonating with me on the job searches. I have taught around 1000 hours for my job and get decent feedback. Unfortunately, my voice sounds like Kermit the frog.

I am praying for you and your husband to get well soon! 🤠🔥

Thank you so much, Ben. In seeing your photos, I never suspected that your voice sounded like Kermit! 😀 You look like you have a baritone voice. I know that sounds strange but I think everyone of us look at photos of people we’ve never met personally before and we automatically imagine what their voice sounds like. 😀
