In Loving Memory Brothers Campfire

Hello friends.

With sorrow of heart I share that my grandmother passed today at the age of 90. It was her birthday.

It was so hard to sing happy birthday and hold her arm a few minutes later, bidding farewell.

Below is my expression of love to her. I will miss you, grandmother.

My Grandmother, 90 years old today

Bastion of strength, no compromise

Wisdom in tight sealed lips display

When she speaks it is a surprise.

My earliest memory, not harsh or mean

Little child I was, broke sewing machine.

Said I was sorry, she quickly forgave,

This once, my bottom did save.

Once, she planted some flowers and pumpkins,

That was the day she swatted my rumpkins.

Out of my mouth came filth and cursing,

Remember I do, a backhand no mercy.

All through her life she listened to my concern,

Her cinnamon rolls did the talking,

If we were snarky, grill cheese burn,

Our tasty vittles smoking.

Her life resilient example of enduring through pain,

We picked up commodities from church in the pouring rain.

She was the one who listened when peers said kill yourself,

Her eyes spoke volumes. Her heart untold wealth.

She could read our minds when we played games, and always she would win,

How I long for her loving eyes to look at me again.

She is gone now to see Jesus sweet,

First to throw crown, at His beloved feet.

I miss her much, love you so,words cannot express,

Your quiet strength, example set to weather storm with finesse

In loving memory of my grandmother.

2/18/1930- 2/18/2020

I will miss you! I love you and look forward to seeing you in Heavan with Jesus!

No problem, I think I read in some comment something about heaven, so if she was a person of faith as I am she is in good hands now.

So interesting and sweet that she died on her birthday. I’m so glad you were able to sign happy birthday to her before she died. In a way it is a birthday…..not only celebrating her birth but her soul’s release of that body so she can move on to something else 🙂
