Brothers Campfire Cannot Help You Be Likable (Satire)

Hello, Benjamin from Brother’s Campfire here!

I was reading a Psychology Today article. 🤮

Wait, how did that emoji get there?🧐

Anyway, it gives seven easy ways to make you more likeable. If you want, you can click the link and read what I read. If not, that is ok too.

From a lifetime introvert who is forced into the world of polite society, here are my thoughts on the seven steps.

1. Be Seen

One of my favorite pastimes is to sit very still in the woods and watch wildlife.

One tip I will impart is don’t look directly or move your eyes. It will draw attention.

2. Remember Names

Working in a prison, I remember the names of those that give me grief and remember the faces of the well-behaved ones. Staff change so much it is difficult to keep up with the names.

3. Ask Questions

Why? Look it up on Google, then ask.

4. Smile

Whenever I smile, people think I am up to something. I have way slowed down on the smiles.

5. Discover Similarities

I told a woman we both had a five o’clock shadow and it did not end well. I avoid these interactions now.

6. Make Them Feel Good

People pleasing? Please.

7. Express Your Liking For Them

I do that. If I like them.

Bonus Tip – Be Real

Oh, we are going to throw a monkey wrench in the whole thing.

Well, that is my take on the article. Where do you rate with these 7 steps?

I haven’t changed my mind!! She is not entirely wrong with her ideas, they are partly right. The whole approach comes across as shallow and manipulative. If we want to be liked we need to work on who we are at the core. If we truly care about people we will be liked, even if we don’t remember their names and they think we are mean sometimes. lol.

Looking at his website, I agree. To know how to love we need to be loved by someone bigger than us, someone with a beating heart. If we are not plugged in to a real power source we only have our own ideas and understanding to work with. It’s like the lights on a Christmas tree, they are pretty but when you plug them in they are beautiful. God Creator of the Universe is the power source that changes everything. Look to see a persons power source and then have a good idea about how helpful their words and ideas will be. We are flawed people so not every book writer will be awesomely wise but they have a better chance with God in the mix.

When I write I ask God for wisdom. James 1: 5-7 says we can ask God for wisdom and he will give it to us. It always amazes me the way he does it if I take the time and wait for it. I think God pops insightful things into our minds because he has so much he wants to say to each of us. He will use our mouths and fingers to do it if we give him half a chance.

    1. Be Seen
Why????? I am doing my best to go undertake radar.

    2. Remember Names
Impossible when there are so many named after the apostles

    3. Ask Questions
    But I don’t really want the answer…

    4. Smile
I don’t want to be mistaken that I am hitting on someone.

    5. Discover Similarities
Not all Asians look alike, alright!

    6. Make Them Feel Good
I don’t want to add on to their delusion.

    7. Express Your Liking For Them
What if they like me back then I can run fast enough?

    Bonus Tip – Be Real
    Really? Really?
