Fun Guy Wants To Propogate Spores

Hello, Benjamin from Brother’s Campfire here!

My latest project is attempting to grow mushrooms.

I have been in contact with an arborist for the appropriate grow media and Field and Forest Products has been very helpful in assisting in my particular grow zone.

My daughter, unbeknownst to her, told me I was weird, but a fun guy nonetheless. It was hilarious, so we recreated the moment.

I want to grow them on logs but also have them in the walkway to increase the likelihood of tripping on them.

Thank you! Right now, I am waiting for the logs and there are a few experiments in the dark recesses of the house. 👻 🕷️ 🍄 Thankfully, I got permission from the Lady of Willow Manor.

Reminded me of a former boyfriend who had mushrooms growing out of his bathroom wall. Not on purpose… but he also made no effort to remove them.

Exactly! I was both repulsed and fascinated – esp because tgey were those flat ones that grow out of trees.

My uncle Key grew mushrooms in the mountains. When I was little I went with him to inspect the fungi in the woods. The ones he grew are dark brown in colour, we made all sort of dishes out of them.

I also attempted mushroom farm at my backyard once, but the came out quite woody, they are the white ones. I think I didn’t water enough.

We are growing another round of oyster mushrooms. we didn’t like the pink mushrooms. We went hunting for murrell mushrooms this fall with success.

With your large pile of woodchips , I recommend wine cap mushrooms. Good to eat, they destroy bacteria, and can get quite large.
