Brother’s Courtroom -An Ongoing Tale Chapter 167 Brothers Campfire

Written with the permission of Herb Thiel. Because It all started here. When I read this, I asked myself, what would Brother do?

Herb Thiel had me confused for a second! He has a lot of grey matter beneath that hat of his. Subscribe before it is too late!

Now, The story………….

Brother was stern. The Local innkeeper Brandyn Summers of The Dragon Tether Bed and Breakfast had a clerk who was accused of stealing from customers and was brought to the Campfire for trial.

Eyes intent on the clerk, Brother asked, “What do you have to say for yourself?”

The clerk was relaxed with an air of superiority in his tone. “Brother, I have an answer, and I also have a question.

“Three men checked into the Dragon Tether bed and Breakfast. I tell them, 10 coins a piece for the rooms. They paid 30 coins and headed up with their bags. Brandyn Summers, the innkeeper comes by and reminded me that the Dragon Tether is having a special, 3 for 25 coins. I went up with 5 coins to take upstairs to the men. On my way up, I tried to figure out how I will divide the 5 coins among the three men. So I decided to just give each guy 1 coin and pocket 2 coins for myself. “

“That means each man paid 9 coins for his room. 10 – 1 = 9.  But, 3 x 9 coins = 27 coins. I kept 2 coins. 27 coins + 2 coins = 29 coins ….”

“The real question Brother, is……What happened to that last coin?”

Theodore the Chemist pulled his abacus out and the men around the Campfire scratched their heads. Where indeed was the missing coin?

Theodore, the Chemist

Brother’s eyes were cold. “What you are telling me clerk, is that you stole something. Thirty coins minus five coins is twenty five coins. You gave them three coins and stole two coins. That totals thirty. The missing coins are the ones you lifted from our visitors. Do you know that your actions reflect Northwich?”     He looked at the innkeeper. “ Are they still here?”

Brandyn Summers nodded. “Yes sir, they are.”

Brother’s eyes turned to the clerk. “ You have said with your own mouth that you stole two coins. You are required to pay back fourfold. Let them decide how to divide up the eight coins, Is that clear?”

I think Askimet is annoying most of the time. I have my settings to allow everything to be posted, yet it does this. Thank you for the nomination!

Yes it is. But atleast it keeps away comments from people trying to make my blog a market for medicines.

Yes. Something like amoxicillin tablets for low rates. I find three to four such comments from different people leading to the same site.
