Bernadine Pike 02/18/1930 – 02/18/2020

My Grandmother, Bernadine Pike, Born 02/18/1930 passed from this world a year ago today on her 90th Birthday.
A small crowd gathered in her hospital room and sang her the traditional Happy Birthday and another version that we are fond of.

A happy birthday to you
A happy birthday to you
May you feel Jesus near,
Every day of the year
A happy birthday to you
A happy birthday to you
And the best year you
Ever had!

As a youth, Grandma Pike was my mother and nearest of all. She said little to me but spoke with her eyes. It is because of her, I only give my eyes to those I trust. It is a little quirky, but if you ever meet me in person it is an idiosyncrasy you may notice. It will tell volumes of my level of comfort with you. I learned it from my grandmother.

With a little regret, I encouraged her to push on to her 90th Birthday. Because she said little to me, I felt I could read her eyes. To me they said, “I’m tired, I want to go home, are you happy that I stayed until 90?”

It is speculation. I know she was ready to go long before. The Bible says that precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Indeed, the Spirit of the Lord was in the room in her passing.

She left this world for her heavenly home with Jesus a short time after we sang her Happy Birthday.

I was unaware this moment was recorded and I was unable to successfully listen or watch the media sent to me.

Perhaps when I am alone, I will.

I will miss you, Grandma Pike.

Hey there! Earth angels are often called back to the Supreme power because they are very precious. Perhaps, it is unbearable for that cosmic energy to be without these beautiful pearls of humankind.

No one can replace a Grandma. They are indispensable parts of our lives. Much love <3

I’m okay for the most part. Still adjusting, and trying to get a routine down. Much better than I was, that’s for sure. Thank you for asking. ❤

Sending heart felt wishes. She is a year older than my mother who died at the end of 2019. Precious older generation, so loved and missed. She will live on in your heart and actions.
