Garbage Post , Brothers Campfire

Benjamin from Brothers Campfire here!

I took the day off today…

To complete work.

Throughout 2022 to the present, I have taken grass clippings, mulch, leaves, pine needles, straw, manure, logs, wood chips, and sticks from local landscapers and neighbors to pile over my ⅓ acre, effectively smothering most of my lawn.

Some areas are a foot thick and the recent rain has made it thoroughly wet, a much-appreciated occurrence.

Today was no exception, and I processed quite a bit.

Mother’s Day weekend marks planting time here in Colorado Springs so I planted corn, pumpkins, squash, tomatoes, grapes, thyme, oregano, basil, sunflowers, and a variety of annual and perennial flowers.

I also installed a waterfall to my pond, adding comet goldfish and duckweed.

Tomorrow will be more of the same. I didn’t go to recess growing up, and don’t play.

My goals include planting strawberries, blackberries and more grapes, processing a large amount of trash, and manufacturing charcoal.

The large amount of trash is frustrating. My son and a young man I know named Tony agreed to take 2 loads of furniture and other household goods and got half of the money up front. She ghosted them for the second half, making it impossible to afford taking it to the dump as it is now cost prohibitive.

I was able to make contact and she sent me a picture of her wristband stating she is in the hospital.

We will see how this plays out. There is a mattress, rained on stuffed animals and a large broken TV that would look good where my son and Tony found it. It is approximately half after all.

Well, off to bed. The Fitbit says I burned over 4000 calories.

Big trash is always such a hassle. And they wonder why people dump their stuff out in nature and cause harm to the environment.

That mulch sounds great for water retention (and a gnome hideaway). Unfortunate you were not payed for the job, and that the young were esentualy punished with no pay while trying to be upstanding members of the community. Props must be given for taking the high road and not retaliating and returning the trash to her doorstep. What gnome-sense.
